Dear colleagues,
The intestine is a universe inhabited by microorganisms about which we know little and ought to know a lot.
This year, the Gastroenterology and Nutrition stream has gathered a super-team of speakers to help you understand the big issues of the micro world.
We are proud to introduce to you our team members. Jan Suchodolski is an outstanding veterinary microbiologist. Whatever book on gastroenterology you take, whatever information on the microbiome you are looking for, you are sure to come across his name.
We asked Jan if dysbiosis exists as this question is more important than Hamlet's "To be or not to be?", and Jan promised to tell us everything he knew about microbiota.
Moreover, he will not be alone! Stefan Unterer, an outstanding gastroenterologist, one of the leading experts in hemorrhagic diarrhea syndrome and other microflora-associated intestine disorders will join him from Munich. Stefan and Jan will answer one of the most burning questions of intestinal disorders treatment - when are antibiotics UNNECESSARY?
Continuing the topic "Microflora is not evil. How to stop administering antibiotics and to start treating a patient", we will cover nutritional issues.
At what point can food become a problem for the body and how to understand it? How to collect a detailed dietary history? Cecilia Villaverde, a veterinary nutritionist, an author of numerous articles and book chapters on clinical nutrition, a member of the WSAVA Global Nutrition Committee, will tell us about this.
Another important question pertaining to life, the universe and all things taken together is management of chronic pancreatitis and enteropathy. Our goal is to determine which of them is primary and to understand which diet is better and if there is a wonder pill for treatment of chronic diseases. Florian Willmitzer, a diagnostic imaging specialist, and me as a gastroenterologist will speak about this.
Join our team on November 11 and 12!
Head of the Gastroenterology and Nutrition Stream

The Clinical Diagnostics stream will continue its work at NVC 2020. This time the sessions will focus on the clinical examination, the most basic skill for each doctor. It is not a secret that this form of obtaining patient information, alongside with the medical history, is an indispensable part of any patient's visit. Mistakes and negligence of this diagnostic technique can result in disruption of the whole diagnosis and treatment plan. Our goal is to demonstrate how the general physical examination and special types of examination are performed and to provide clear algorithms, from manifestation of clinical findings to their diagnostic significance. We want everyone to be able to easily fight the diseases of their patients, using these techniques.
